The City of the Prophet (ﷺ)
Madinah welcomed the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) after the Hijrah from Makkah in 622 CE, the event that marks the start of the Islamic calendar. Known before as Yathrib, it became the first capital of Islam. Al-Masjid an-Nabawi holds the Prophet’s resting place and ar-Rawdah ash-Sharifah, the garden of Paradise.
Many visitors describe Madinah as calmer than Makkah, and many families want to spend long periods here. That makes it a natural choice for a second home, and the city’s growth plans support rental demand.
What you can buy
As in Makkah, ownership is limited to Muslims and to designated zones. Published zone lists include Rua Al Madinah, Darat Al-Hijrah, Madinah Downtown, Knowledge Economic City and Mishraf. Types of right and durations vary by zone and project.
